Morning Thoughts:
Psalms 143:8
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the
morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me
to know the way wherein I should walk; for
I lift up my soul unto thee.
Psalms 59:16
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will
sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for
thou hast been my defense and refuge in the
day of my trouble.
Isaiah 50:4
The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the
learned, that I should know how to speak a
word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth
morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to
hear as the learned.
Practical Stuff:
- Have a good "To-Do" list made
the night before. Make sure it starts with
something you actually want to do.
- Go to bed knowing what your first step
will be the next morning.
- Yogurt. That's what gets Christina Thompson
out of bed. What's your breakfast of champions?

"Five...more...minutes..."
I groan, rolling over on my squeaky top bunk to
find that tiny worthless snooze button on the side
of my cell phone. I tell myself I need my sleep.
It's important for my health. Riiight,
I chide myself and give in to the coziness of my
fleece cocoon. And that nagging voice in my head
begins its chant from Proverbs 6.
How
long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you
rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to sleep -- so shall
your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your
need like an armed man...
Guilt
is not a good way to wake up in the morning. Yet,
I know the Word is true, and I'm only hurting myself
with my laziness. Blast this flesh! it's as though
I'm not in control.
Paul tells us in I
Corinthians to make our bodies slaves to
us, not the other way around. (9:27) ...But
I discipline my body and bring it into subjection,
lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should
become disqualified.
Our bodies are supported
to do what we tell them to. But perhaps you're like
me, and you need someplace to put your thoughts
in the morning, something that will make you happier
about the day than the next nap. I was so blessed
and refreshed last week when, after rolling myself
down the ladder in a heap, God rewarded my short
Bible time with a treasure from His Word, and I
want to share it with you now. I hope it inspires
you to wake up with expectations, wake up with a
true sense of your royal and high calling, wake
up with a steadfast heart to take whatever comes
you way... because our God is great. This is Isaiah
52:1-2. Let God call you now!
"Awake,
awake! Put on your strength O Zion; put on your
beautiful garments O Jerusalem, the holy city! For
the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer
come to you. Shake yourself from the dust, arise;
Sit down O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds
of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion!"
What
a wake-up call! Put on your strength, young men,
soldiers of the Lord! Put on your beautiful garments
young women of God! For we are God's people. We
are the inhabitants of that holy city Zion.
