God bless you and greetings in the name
of Jesus Christ.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Welcome
to 2001
When I was a kid growing up in the fifties, the year 2001
was one of those years that popped up in the science fiction
movies about spaceships and aliens roaming earth. 2001
seemed so far into the future and yet, here we are starting
the year of 2001.
Starting with Adam and Eve in Genesis,
God has been consistent in His exhortation to man [to
have faith] to believe in Him and believe what He spoke
or had spoken by way of His prophets.
Hebrews 11:6(a)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him [God,
for he
that cometh to God must believe that He is,..
Impossible is translated from the Greek
word "adunatos," and it means: "deficient
in strength and power, unable." Without "faith,"
we are unable, deficient of strength and power to please
or be well-pleasing unto God.
WHO and WHAT are to be
the object of our "faith?" First is GOD
II Chornicles 20:20(b)
"...Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be
established..."
We are to "believe in"
the Lord our God. Jesus reminds his disciples in John
14 of their belief in God.
John 14:1(a)
Let not your heart be troubled: ye "believe in"
God, believe in me also.
Jesus said you believe in God, believe
in [or have faith in] me also. Jesus is also to be the
object of our "faith;" First God, then
Jesus Christ .
John 6:29
Jesus answered and said unto them [the multitude, this
is the work of God, that ye believe on him, whom He
[God] hath sent
Paul, in Acts 20:21 tells the
elders at Ephesus that he testified
to both the Jews and the Gentiles, repentance toward God
and "faith" toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
The third thing that should be the object
of our faith is our belief in the scriptures that were
spoken or written of God by way of Moses and the prophets.
II Chornicles
20:20(c)
"... believe His [God's] prophets, so shall ye
prosper." |
John 5:46
"For had ye believed Moses ye would have believed
in me: for he Moses wrote of me." |
Let us begin 2001 with great expectation
and believing in God, Jesus Christ, and His life filled
and powerful Word.
