| Dear
Believers,
Sometimes I wonder why my
wife and daughters all have cell phones, in fact I wonder
why most people have cell phones. Every time I call someone
on their cell phone they do not answer the call. I thought
the concept of having a cell phone is that you could be
reached at any time. It can be frustrating to reach
out and call someone and not have them answer. How do
you think God feels when people do not respond to His
call? Frustrated I'm sure. I guess the apostle Paul's
phone was on when he received his call from God.
Romans 1:1
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be
an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God.
God called Paul to
be an apostle and Paul answered the call.
I Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make
your calling sure: For if ye do these things,
ye shall never fall:
The word "diligence"
means speed, haste, earnestness, zeal. The word "sure"
means firm, sure, steady, steadfast. Are we giving speed,
haste, earnestness and zeal to answer what God has called
us to do?
II Timothy 1:9
Who [God through Christ] hath saved us and called
us with an holy calling notaccording to our works,
but according to his own purpose and grace, which was
given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
It was God's own purpose
that we were called. What are we called to?
I Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto
the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:13a
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty;
Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the
which also ye are called in one body; and be
ye thankful.
I Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
whereunto thou art also called....
Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 4:4
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called
in one hope of your calling:
This is a time of year when
the world makes New Year's resolutions. People examine
their lives and make decisions to change and improve the
quality of their lives. I have a great suggestion for
people this year.
How about keeping your spiritual cell phone on so we do
not miss God's call? As believers we have so much potential
to give and serve God's people. Has God been calling
you to fill a certain need in the body of Christ? Have
you been called to teach, research, give of your
time, give financially, to help and support in any and
all ways? We won't know unless we answer the call.
God bless you all; have a great year
answering the calls of Almighty God.
Much love in Christ,
Bob Faller
