Dear Christian Believers,
God bless your lives powerfully through
the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.
We just celebrated the resurrection
of our Lord Jesus Christ. We took part in Holy Communion,
in memory of what Christ accomplished, and in remembrance
of the "new covenant" that he made with us through
his shed blood and broken body, we said prayers of joy
and thankfulness and made supplication and intercession
for the saints.
It's wonderful that we do this every year without fail.
BUT the spiritual reality is that the "new covenant"
of Christ is not a once a year thing, it is an everyday
thing. Everytime we pick up a piece of bread, or lift
up a cup or glass we should be reminded of the covenant
of Christ. That covenant declares that we are free from
"sin and sickness," and we have life eternal.
Therefore we should be released from our fears, of sin,
sickness, and death. Jesus Christ brought a "new
day" and a "new time" for those that believe.
Matthew 26:26-28
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed
it, and brake it, and gave it to his disciples, and
said,
Take eat; this is my body.
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave It to
them, saying. Drink ye all of it;
For this Is my blood of the new testament, (new covenant)
which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
The eastern man understood what the
blood covenant really meant. When Jesus introduced his
"new covenant" saying, "This
is my blood of the new testament which Is poured out for
many unto the remission of sins;" and then told
them to eat the bread which was his body and drink of
the cup which represented his shed blood - There was no
game of 40 questions being played by the disciples, they
"knew" what Jesus meant. Blood covenants
were nothing new to men of the east. The blood covenant
is the oldest of covenants and its practice was at the
basis of all primitive religions in all parts of the world.
There were three basic reasons for "cutting"
[making] a covenant; (1) - preservation (2) entering
into a partnership with another, and (3) for the
sake of love. Jonathan and David made a covenant because
of the love and friendship they had for one another.
I Samuel 18:3 and 4
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he
loved him as his own soul.
And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon
him and gave It to David, and his garments (his garments
of armor), even to his sword, and to his bow and
girdle.
Jonathan gave David his robe which represented
the authority of the crown prince. He gave David his weapons
which represented his protection of David, his preservation.
They cut their wrists and clasp one another's arms and
let their blood mingle. They cleaned their wounds with
salt and hyssop which left a scar, reminding them of their
covenant. Jesus Christ cut a covenant with us out of Love
for his Father and for his love for us. His covenant guaranteed
our preservation (eternal life), and our protection.
We entered into a partnership of Jesus Christ being the
head of the Body of Christ and we became members in particular.
Members that were to do the works that he did and greater.
WOW, that is some kind of covenant isn't it. When
Jesus arose from the dead and showed himself to doubting
Thomas, (John 20:25-27) he said reach and touch the wounded
scars in my hands. Jesus left sin, sickness, and death
in the tomb, but took with him the scars of his covenant.
Christ is ascended, he Sits at the right hand of GOD,
and he makes intercession for the saints. Everytime we
send up a prayer or petition to God in the name of Jesus
Christ - Christ holds out hands before God and displays
his covenant scars to God as a reminder for honoring his
"new covenant."
I Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises in him (Christ) are yea, and In
him (Christ) are Amen, unto the glory of God.
Enjoying His promises with you;
John
