April 2003

Dear Christian Believers,
April God bless you and greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are several “kinds of Fools,” listed in the Bible, and one of them is the “Atheists Fool.” One of our dictionaries defines “fool,” as “a person that is deficient in judgment.” The “fool” lacks judgment because he either doesn’t have the knowledge to make proper judgments or he doesn’t think, and apply the knowledge he has been taught to make good judgments. One of the Biblical definition of “fool,” is ...“unreflecting, or NOT applying the mind to the truth.” God says that a “fool” is one that does not apply their minds to the truth; God’s Word is truth.

Psalm 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abdominal iniquity: There is none that doeth good.

This Psalm is repeated in Psalm 53:1, just in case you are reading the Book of Psalms and you missed it in Psalm 14. In the Hebrew, the word “fool,” actually means “There is no God for me.” The fool says for me, there is no God, and they choose to live without HIM. If that is their genuine belief, then at least they are honest with their belief and the way they live. A problem we have today is that there are people that profess to be Christian and say, I believe in God, they even attend Church on Sundays, But they are “practicing Atheists.” What do I mean by that? They do all the religious acts and say the right words, BUT they live as though God doesn’t exist. They don’t talk to HIM, or seek HIS counsel in prayer or by reading His Word. They just ignore HIM. The only time they even think about HIM is when they are in a crisis or are in deep trouble. When I use to visit the prisons in the State of Ohio the prison guards always joked about the new inmates “getting religion.” To leave God out of your life and the daily events that make up our lives is, “FOOLISH LIVING.” It’s interesting how we scoff at the Atheists and say how foolish they are, but yet where is our practice different if we leave God out of our daily lives. The Bible also speaks of another “fool,” this kind of fool is the kind we should be, and that’s a “fool for Christ.” In I Corinthians 1:18-19 God tells us that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those that do not believe, and He goes on to say that HE will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent, (those that think they have foresight to avoid error or danger). We need to always be the fool that believes the message of His Word no matter what the world’s words promote. That’s what is called a “wise fool.”

I Corinthians 1:20-21
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer (those jointed with them) of this world? Hath not God made “foolish” the wisdom of the world?
For after that in the wisdom of God the world wisdom knew not God, It pleased God by the “foolish” preaching (the preached Word) to save them that believe.

When we confess with our mouth Jesus as Lord of our lives and believe that God hath raised him out from among the death, Romans 10:9-10 says we are saved, Praise God we are the “saved and wise fool.” Now we should live like it by doing the word and works of Jesus Christ and involving God in our EVERYDAY life as Jesus did. Let’s rejoice in God’s foolishness and not the worlds.
